Local children, parents and MP of North Swindon, Justin Tomlinson, came together last weekend to officially open Orbital’s new aviation-themed play area!
Inspired by Swindon’s engineering heritage, the play area features a climbing frame designed as a plane, with a ‘control tower’, rope bridge and slide. Perfect for little pilots of all ages.
Jamie Turner, centre manager of Orbital, said: “The playground is a great addition to Orbital and our community. It was brilliant to see the children enjoying themselves this morning and we hope the playground will provide local families with a space to spend quality time together.”
The project is part of a multi-million pound investment here at Orbital. Justin Tomlinson, MP for North Swindon, said: “This will be a fantastic and very popular new facility for local parents, and I am thrilled that the design reflects Swindon’s proud heritage."
Plans have since been made to create a whole host of upgrades to its customer facilities, so keep an eye out for brand new customer toilets with full disabled and parent and child facilities. Retailers Nando’s and EE are also set to open at Orbital Shopping Venue later this year.
Located near Next, the playground is free to use and open daily. So come along, try it out, and let us know what you think!
